Dotted Ruffles - Lacroix

I would love to wear this Christian Lacroix (?) dress . . . mostly because of the dramatic dotted ruffles over the shoulders. I think a small version of these could be pretty cool on a very girly guitar strap. Maybe even topped off with a little black bow, like on her shoes.

Dead Man's Bones

Is there anything better than when someone you like begins doing something else you like even more? I guess the only thing better is when their aesthetic is also oddly aligned to yours, which is the case with Ryan Gosling and his band Dead Man's Bones. Love him, love the music, love the spooky vintage look. Very inspiring.

Vintage colors

This interior shot has some amazing color inspiration in it. I love the matte black door paired with the textured white walls and especially the color of the wood cases. Plus, the cases have cool metal corner detailing. I think this could come together for a pretty cool guitar strap.

Futuristic Tailoring - White/Metallic Gold

There is something really cool about how Richard Nicoll combined futuristic colors- white and metallic gold- with classic/vintage details. Both pieces come off as very modern and interesting. I love the bustier seaming on the top dress and the military detailing on the bottom dress. Definitely a new twist, and inspiring for some white base straps, which I haven't done in a while.

Nick Diamonds / Islands' Style

I can't believe I've had this blog for almost a year now and I haven't posted about Nick Diamonds of Islands. They're one of my favorite bands, and he's one of my favorite lead singers. His style is fun and loud, and has definitely inspired several of my past guitar straps.
On stage, he's usually wearing something pretty glam + indie, and the rest of the band is matching him. Most bands don't do this anymore and I think this makes Islands much more fun to see live. And in my opinion, this is the most fun band I have ever seen live (many many times).
Also- I saw him on a plane recently (!) and he was wearing a hot pink hoodie and his signature multi-colored high tops. Awesome.
Return To The Sea tour. I loved the all-white outfits the band wore. Very spacey/futuristic. I'm believe they were designed by Rebecca Turbow. This is what he was wearing the first time I saw them at SXSW. Great costumes + insanely catchy songs + onstage good times and theatrics + crowd participation = instant love for me.

Arm's Way tour. They changed from all-white to all-black. A cool look, I think symbolic of the darker sound to this album.

Vapours tour (currently on!). Nick had this cape made by Christian Joy, who is famous for her costumes for Karen O. of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. They're coming to Seattle tomorrow, and I CANNOT WAIT.

Lace and Copper Chains

Love the the way the thin copper chains are dripping off this lace top. An inspiration for a strap for sure!

Adam Brody Style

I think Adam Brody has a pretty cool i'm-not-trying sense of style. His clothes seem basic, but he has a great sense of proportion (fitted, not tight, not baggy) and color. I like what he wears, and I think he's a good inspiration for the guy-oriented straps in my shop.

Therine Featured in Etsy Spotlight

One of my guitar straps was featured in the Etsy Spotlight today: Smells Like Teen Spirit. Its a pretty cool spotlight on grunge-inspired style, I'm flattered!

More amazing shoes from Prada (Fall 09). I love the fan detail at the back of the heel, with the strips of leather and studs. This could be a very cool piece on a strap.

Matador/Embroidery

There is something really amazing about traditional matador/toreador pants. The intricate embroidery is quite beautiful. I think a vintage piece of embroidery, done in this style,  could make a really cool shoulder piece on a guitar strap.

Blazer, Scarf and Acoustic

The combination of this shrunken tailored jacket, the nautical stripe scarf, and a black acoustic guitar looks  really cool. Definitely some elements to consider for a new strap idea.

Blue Sequins

Another sequined dress. Another posting from the Balmain Fall 09 show. Still inspiring!
