Paul Smith's Rockabilly Menswear for Women

I love Paul Smith's Sp'11 runway looks for women. Pompadors & menswear-inspired pieces are two of my favorite things. And the mix of patterns going on is pretty cool too, and inspiring for some of my guitar straps!

McQueen's Hardware

These shoes from Alexander McQueen's Sp10 show are amazing. I love the sculpted metal plates with holes and screws combined with the printed shoe. Its high-fashion steampunk and very inspiring.

Stitched Leather Piecing

I love the geometric leather panels and the stitching detail on these pieces from Louise Goldin's Fall 2010 runway. Definitely a cool idea for a shoulder piece on one of my guitar straps. I also like the peek of metallic red, to make it a little more flashy.

Metal zippers

 

How amazing is this skirt from Phillip Lim? Its made with rows and rows of zippers, with gold metal teeth. The way he has made something so hard edged look smooth and feminine is really impressive, and definitely inspiring. I really need to get working on a strap with zippers!

I love these combinations of feminine fabrics and brown equestrian-looking leather belts from the Burberry Prorsum Sp10 runway. This was one of my favorite shows for Sp10, definitely inspiring a few guitar straps.

Futuristic Tailoring - White/Metallic Gold

 

There is something really cool about how Richard Nicoll combined futuristic colors- white and metallic gold- with classic/vintage details. Both pieces come off as very modern and interesting. I love the bustier seaming on the top dress and the military detailing on the bottom dress. Definitely a new twist, and inspiring for some white base straps, which I haven't done in a while.

Another sequined dress. Another posting from the Balmain Fall 09 show. Still inspiring!

Gucci's Fall 09 runway looks had a very cool combination of sleek shiny leather, and retro menswear patterns. Definitely inspiring for some straps.

Glitter Socks

From Viktor & Rolf's Fall 09 runway- are these not the craziest socks for a guy? Super cool, although probably not very comfortable, ha. Viktor & Rolf always put really interesting stuff in their shows- definitely a lot of humor and deviations from the norm. This combination of muted menswear & a bit of glitter is perfect for my straps.

I love the layers upon layers of gold chain necklaces, in combination with the all-black outfits.

Dior Homme Spring 09

I love the bronze/gold pieces in this collection. And the glasses are pretty cool too. Dior Homme is one of my favorite lines for men. It just always looks very sharp, with a little bit of rock 'n roll thrown in.

Belt Buckles

I love these belts from the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 09 runway. They have that antique feel to them, and I like the combination of brass, leather, and corduroy.
