This Versace caught my eye b/c of its unique surface treatment. I'm not sure how the gold sequins/paillettes (?) are attached, but I really like the way they look, and that they're applied different at the top and bottom. Very glam/disco. Could be a cool shoulder piece on a guitar strap.

Shoe Shank

As far soles go, this one is simply beautiful. The subtle colors in the leather, next to the cream colored shank with letterpress-looking type, plus the tiny nail heads on the heel and finally the geometrically shaped black inset- it all looks a bit black tie affair, no? These pieces could definitely be used on one of my straps.

Madonna, Silk Bows

Love this behind-the-scenes pic from Madonna's Louis Vuitton ad campaign. The colors are good for some fall inspiration, and the huge silk bunny ears are great. Practical? Not at all, not even for guitar straps, but using a raw  silk for some big crinkled bows could be pretty interesting.

Casablancas

I guess there isn't much point in denying that fall has snuck up on me. I despise cold weather, but at least this pre-winter season brings some new inspirations, and a likely return to therine, which has been mostly neglected during these past few months of warm weather in Seattle.

So, with fall in mind, today I found this image while looking up info on Julian Casablancas' new solo project. I believe this is the cover for the new album. Its a great picture, both clever and beautiful, and the saturated colors are really amazing. For being a crusty rocker, he looks pretty dandy in his maroon velvet blazer. Definitely an inspiration to get back to work on some new straps!

Rockabilly, Cry Baby

I've been in a rockabilly mood this summer, and I've watched Cry Baby several times recently. I love the absolutely intentional campy feeling, the music, and especially the 50's retro clothing/costumes. Leather jackets, jeans, polka dots, red lipstick, plaid bow-ties, prom dresses... all easily inspiring for some guitar straps.

Just found this blog:  *#@! yeah Marilyn Monroe! which is an amazing resource for people like me who could never get tired of looking at her pictures. This photo, which I haven't seen before, where she's dressed very ladylike while looking at ties in a menswear shop, is especially fitting as inspiration for therine.

clairelafaye- Etsy shop inspiration

Absolutely amazing pieces from the Etsy shop clairelafaye. The designs and the level of detail are really impressive, and beautifully executed. This is inspiration both for straps (for the girliest of guitar players) and for my Etsy shop in general.

Beaded Shoulder Details

I really like the intricate beaded details on these jackets. Its very feminine, while still looking strong. And of course, they have an antique/vintage feeling, that adds depth. While an intimidating and time-consuming craft, I'd love to use beading on the shoulder piece of a strap.

Plaids and Leather

Cool image of menswear muted plaids and leather jackets on display at a new Uniqlo Ion store. Falls in line with my Plaid Rock strap, and is good inspiration for looking towards the fall.

Plaid Brogues

I love how menswear shoes are being made for women. I've tried to wear these kind of shoes myself and just can't quite pull it off. But I really like the way these look on this model. And I think the use of the brown vintage-y plaid plus the perforated leather is inspiring for a strap or two.

Notice-me hair accessories are one trend I'm not getting sick of. I love all these gigantic bows. I've already made one strap with a large bow, and these are inspiring me to make some more.

Summer Menswear

This look isn't really about guitar straps, but it is an amazing mix of femininity and masculinity, which is something I try to incorporate in therine. I think most of the elements in this outfit are men's pieces, but she pulls them together and looks really cool. Definitely inspiring.

This guy has a really inspiring mix of styles going on. A little bit of artsy utilitarian + black/white graphic + retro...etc. Plus, his hair is the coolest.

Band of Outsiders- Dobby Pattern

Very cool image of Joseph Gordon-Levitt wearing Band of Outsiders. I think the patterned vest is my favorite piece here, and that kind of mini pattern could make for a cool shoulder piece on one of my straps.

artlab - Etsy shop inspiration

This Etsy shop is one of the best I've seen! Beyond the amazing pieces themselves- the branding, photography and overall aesthetic is really impressive. These pieces and photos could easily be in Vogue. Seeing it reminds me of what levels you can take your shop to. Very inspiring.
